Managed hosting

The server is the easy part — anyone can rent one for a few pounds. The part that matters is who notices when it breaks, whether the backup has ever been restored, and whether the person answering has seen your site before. That is what you are actually buying here.

Plans

Three plans. No setup fees.

Monthly, cancel whenever. No twelve-month lock-in and no introductory rate that triples on renewal.

Managed

We keep it patched, backed up and monitored, and a person who knows your site answers you.

Managed

One business site that needs to stay up and stay patched.

£19/mo
  • UK or EU data centre, your choice
  • Free SSL, renewed automatically
  • Daily backups, kept 30 days
  • Core and plugin updates applied and checked
  • Uptime monitoring with a human alerted
  • Email support, one working day

Portfolio

Agencies and businesses running several sites at once.

£129/mo
  • Everything in Managed Plus, per site
  • One invoice, one point of contact
  • Migrations of existing sites included
  • Quarterly review across the whole estate
  • Named contact who knows the portfolio

Add to any plan

Optional, never pre-ticked, and we will tell you when you do not need one.

Extended validation SSL

£79/yr

Most sites do not need this — a free Let's Encrypt certificate is included and is equally secure in the browser.

Offsite backup

£6/mo

A backup on the same infrastructure as the site is not a backup.

Straight answers

What we will not claim.

Four things every other hosting page would tell you, that we are not going to.

No uptime percentage, yet
We are not going to print a number we have not measured over a meaningful period. Once there is a track record, it goes here with the data behind it. Anyone quoting 99.99% on day one is quoting their supplier's marketing, not their own history.
We resell infrastructure, and say so
The servers belong to an established provider; the management, monitoring and the person who answers you are ours. That is the honest description of almost every host at this size — most just do not tell you.
Not the cheapest, on purpose
You can host a site for £3 a month. What you cannot get for £3 is somebody who already knows your site picking up when it breaks. If price is the deciding factor, a commodity host is genuinely the right answer and we will say so.
Your domain stays yours
Registered in your name, with your details as the registrant. If you leave, you take it with you and we help you move. A host that makes leaving difficult is telling you what it thinks of its own product.
Questions

Common questions.

Is this cheaper than the big hosts?

No, and it is not trying to be. You can host a site for £3 a month, and if price is the deciding factor that is genuinely the right answer — we will tell you so rather than talk you out of it. What £3 does not buy is somebody who already knows your site picking up the phone when it breaks at 9am on a Monday.

Do you own the servers?

No. The infrastructure belongs to an established provider with proper data centres, redundant power and staff on site around the clock. What is ours is the management, the monitoring, the backups and the person who answers you. That is an honest description of almost every host at this size — most of them just do not say it out loud.

What is your uptime guarantee?

We do not publish one yet, because we have not run long enough to have measured it honestly. When there is a real track record it will appear here with the data behind it. Anyone quoting you 99.99% on their first day is quoting their supplier's marketing rather than their own history.

What happens if my site goes down at 2am?

Monitoring alerts a person, not just a dashboard. On the Managed plan we act in working hours; on Managed Plus and Portfolio we respond out of hours too. We would rather set that expectation precisely than promise 24/7 heroics and disappoint you the first time it matters.

Can I leave?

Yes, and we will help. Your domain is registered in your name, your site and database are yours, and we will hand over a full export or migrate it to your new host. A hosting company that makes leaving difficult is telling you what it thinks of its own product.

How is this different from your care plans?

Hosting is the floor; the care plans are the work that happens on top. Hosting keeps the site running, patched and backed up. A care plan adds the changes, the performance work and the review — the things a person does rather than a server. Plenty of clients take both, and the hosting is included once you are on a care plan.
