Common questions.
Who owns the domain — you or me?
You. It is registered with your name and your details as the registrant, which makes you the legal holder. We are listed as the technical contact so we can manage DNS for you, and that is all. If you leave us, you take the domain with you and we help you transfer it out.
Why is your first-year price not 99p?
Because the renewal would then be £45, and we would rather tell you one honest number than two dishonest ones. Every price on this page shows registration and renewal side by side at the same size. The renewal is the price you will actually pay most years.
Do I have to host with you if I register through you?
No. The domain is yours and can point anywhere you like. We will set the DNS to wherever your site actually lives, including a host that is not us. Tying a domain to a hosting contract is a way of making customers hard to lose, and it is not how we would want to be treated.
What happens when it is due for renewal?
We tell you before it expires, not after. A lapsed domain can be expensive or impossible to recover, and it is the single most common way a small business loses its website, so we treat the reminder as part of the job rather than an upsell opportunity.
Can you move a domain I registered somewhere else?
Usually yes. You will need the authorisation code from your current registrar and the domain has to be older than 60 days. We will tell you honestly if a transfer is not worth doing — sometimes leaving it where it is and just pointing the DNS at us is the simpler answer.
Do you offer WHOIS privacy?
Yes, where the registry allows it. For most generic domains your personal details are hidden from public WHOIS lookups by default. Some country registries publish certain fields regardless, and we will tell you which before you register rather than after.
